A Refuge For Us NOT So Good Gamers

IS@G - Fighting Darwinism for 2 Years and Counting

Thursday, February 12th, 2009 by Brian Royal

Is it slightly ironic that I Suck At Gaming shares the same birthday as Charles Darwin? After all, natural select is all about the survival of the strongest, while we are just lucky to survive. But that's why they make respawn points, plus a determined gamer never hurt anyone.

Today we celebrate two complete years of I Suck At Gaming. Not bad for a one man show ran from your house, even if I say so myself. Going into our third year we will continue to update and build the community. We encourage all gamers to join IS@G, not just the bad ones. The occasional, casual, expert, and professional gamers are all welcome.

Thank you for your support for the last two years and we will continue to make I Suck At Gaming even better in year three.

Lost, Damned, and Free Xbox Live Multiplayer

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009 by Brian Royal

If you are planning on grabbing the GTA IV downloadable content expansion, the Lost and the Damned, later this month and only have a silver account, then you are in for a nice treat. Rockstar Games and Microsoft have teamed up to offer a free week of Xbox Live Multiplayer service or anyone playing GTA IV and/or the Lost and the Damned expansion. This service will start on February 17th and end February 22.

We are excited to announce that for the first time ever, starting Tuesday, February 17 at 9:00 am (PST), Xbox LIVE multiplayer service usually reserved for Xbox LIVE Gold members will be completely free of charge for LIVE members while playing Grand Theft Auto IV or The Lost and Damned -- the first exclusive downloadable expansion episode on Xbox 360. This limited, Grand Theft Auto multiplayer promotion is applicable only to players of either Grand Theft Auto IV or The Lost and Damned expansion episode, and will end on Sunday, February 22 (11:59PM PST). Be a part of this unprecedented event and join the legions of Grand Theft Auto fans across the world to wreak havoc upon Liberty City.

To help gamers get the most from their multiplayer access, Rockstar Games and Xbox LIVE are putting on a week of special events with the chance to take on Hip Hop DJ and producer, Statik Selektah in a special ‘Game with Fame’ event and even take on the people behind the Grand Theft Auto franchise in a ‘Game with Rockstar’ multiplayer event. Sweepstake promotions and an ‘Xbox All Nighter’ will also be part of the week of activities, full details and eligibility can be found at www.xbox.com/lostanddamnedliveweek.

So what this really means is that I will certainly be playing GTA IV and the new DLC during that week which will allow Xbox Live Silver memberships to join in the fun of kicking my ass - a service usually reserved for Gold members only. Enjoy.

Delays in the Wasteland

Friday, February 6th, 2009 by Brian Royal

The remaining two downloadable content releases for Fallout 3 The Pitt and Broken Steel, currently scheduled for release this month and next, will be delayed a month each. A Bethesda representative has confirmed to GameSpy that...

the next DLC for Fallout 3, The Pitt, will be out in March. Broken Steel will be out the following month, in April.

Only a single month delay, not bad, and this gamer will have plenty of other things (Halo Wars) to keep him busy while he waits.

Tis The Gaming Season

Sunday, January 25th, 2009 by Brian Royal

It's finally the last full week of January, and that can only mean one thing. It's WINTER-EEN-MAS!!!

For those of you who are not in the know, Winter-een-mas is the gamer holiday created from the popular gaming web comic, Ctrl+Alt+Del. It is a week long celebration of games and gamers, and more importantly, an excuse I can give my wife on why it is important that I play video games every night this week.

There is no "official" way to celebrate Winter-een-mas. Just simply celebrate by doing what you enjoy and have fun with games and fellow gamers. Personally, I intend to advance in Fallout 3 (create the Shishkebab weapon, and finally disarm that bomb in Megaton so I can dump all my gear in a house) and then hit some serious multiplayer action (most likely Gears of War 2) with some online friends over the weekend.

Aren't holidays awesome!?!? Now if I could only get off work for Winter-een-mas...maybe next year. Happy Winter-een-mas to all, and happy gaming.
